About the Program

Schaeffler India is inviting applications for Social Innovator Fellowship Program 2021 which aims to recognize and reward individuals who are developing unique solutions that have the potential to positively impact the society at scale in India.

Eligibility

  • Applicants should belong to the age group of 18 to 30 years (as on 1st September 2021)
  • Should be a resident of India
  • The project must not be an established commercial venture
  • Participants also need to submit the entries describing their work in the form of video that can be uploaded on the website.
  • The project must be related to any of the below categories:
    • Transforming Education for the Underprivileged
    • Health & Nutrition
    • Renewable Energy and Environment
    • Water Conservation
    • Waste Management

Awards

  • As many as 11 projects will be awarded with a total grant of INR 15 Lakh
    • INR 5 Lakh grant for 1 winner
    • INR 1 Lakh grant each for 10 awardees
  • An opportunity for residential mentorship at a premium college/institution to help the winners to further develop and scale their solutions.
  • Access to Schaeffler India network & partners
  • Entry to a fellow community of peers

Selection process

A multi-stage selection process will determine the winners of Social Innovator Fellowship Program 2021. The selection stages are mentioned below:

  • All eligible applications will be reviewed and scored basis the following criteria:
    • Solving a social challenge
    • Sustainability & scalability
    • Technology based idea (a mobile app, device) having a positive impact on the underprivileged
    • Stage of idea implementation towards the impact
  • Telephonic interview and document verification
  • Semi-final round by Schaeffler India team
  • A project pitch presentation to Jury panel & leaders (organized by Schaeffler India team) and final interview

Important dates

  • Online application opening date: September 17th, 2021
  • Last date of submission of online applications: October 31st, 2021
  • Fellow selection process: November & December, 2021
  • Fellow announcement and induction to online/residential mentoring program in partner institution: January 2022
