About the Organisation
Centre for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC), hosted by Ashoka University, is set up by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The vision of the Centre is to establish an institution in India that is globally reputed for thought leadership and excellence in impactful, evidence-based behaviour change interventions for poor and marginalized populations.The Centre works in the areas of nutrition, sanitation, maternal health, family planning and financial services.
Project context
CSBC is conducting a study to understand needs, risks, and challenges around digital payment apps.
Overview of the Role
The intern will work with a Senior Research Specialist at the Centre to design data collection instruments, participate in primary data collection and support with analysis.

- Stipend of INR 10,000 per month (consolidated)
 
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, psychology, sociology, public policy or related fields. Applicants may be current students as well.
 - Fluency in English and Hindi (required)

Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and mapping behavioural barriers/risks around the use of digital payment apps
 - Co-design sampling frame/participant recruitment for in-depth structured interviews to understand barriers/risks in digital payment apps
 - Conducting in-depth structured interviews
 - Journey mapping to document stages of experience with digital payment apps/specific modalities and features
 - Drafting, translating and programming an online survey building on qualitative insights
 - Synthesising insights for final research report
 
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, psychology, sociology, public policy or related fields
 - Ability or interest in conducting qualitative and quantitative research
 - Ability to manage and respond to varied tasks in a quick and efficient manner
 - Strong interpersonal and communications skills
 - Fluency in English and Hindi (required)
 
Location and Days of Work
- Applicants should be authorised to work in India.
 - However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CSBC has adopted a work-from-home model of operations. Given these circumstances, the role would be on-boarded and executed remotely.
 - Applicants will need to have their own laptops and access to a functioning internet connection.
 - They may work in a flexible manner during the week and over weekends to support project requests.
 - The duration of the contract is 3 months (20-25 hours/ week), starting April 10, 2022.
