Legal and Compliance Internship Program  

The program has been designed to develop highly motivated professionals by providing a stimulating and supportive environment to understand the business and achieve maximum potential. On joining, you will go through a training program that covers policies and procedures of Legal and Compliance division. During the internship, there will be senior manager presentations and professional skills workshops to provide you with a well-rounded experience.  

Responsibilities of the Intern:

  • Legal Field Services is a group consisting of 2 attorneys and eight paralegals based in New York.
  • Field Services is a part of Branch Advisory Legal, which in turn is a group within the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley.
  • The offshore Legal and Compliance Department in Mumbai is a department of the Legal and Compliance Division and provides support services to the Legal and Compliance Division.
  • This role will form part of the offshore Legal and Compliance Department in Mumbai and Legal Field Services
  • Review and outlining of the powers of the agent under the power of attorney and general legal matters that relate to powers of attorney applied to client accounts;
  • Address branch inquiries, Conducting legal research, etc.
  • Draft a summary of the powers granted to the agent under a power of attorney and Advise branch personnel on relevant power of the agent under the power of attorney and the law applicable to the powers of attorney 

Requirements:

  • Team player who can successfully manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to think independently, form opinions, and make decisions
  • Ability to anticipate ahead of time and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Pragmatic and analytical problem-solving skills – candidate needs to consistently apply sound judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of organization under pressure
  • Successfully meet established deadline requirements – display efficient time management skills
  • Possess the ability to research and resolve issues independently
  • Ability to identify and recommend process efficiencies
  • Attention to detail
  • Monday to Friday from:
    • EDT (March to November) – 12 PM – 9 PM IST
    • EST (November to March) – 1 PM – 10 PM IST
  • Flexibility on standard working hours for time-sensitive matters (including India Public Holidays) is expected
  • Periodic calls with the US manager and team members
