Introduction:

Walter P Moore, a leading consulting firm based in the United States, offers a wide range of engineering and consulting services to clients in the public and private sectors through its extensive network of offices. We are seeking a talented individual to join our Diagnostics Group as an Intern in our Pune, India office. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of skilled engineers and technicians, contributing to diagnostics-related projects, including forensics, strengthening, restoration, and rehabilitation of various structures.

Responsibilities:

As an Intern in our Diagnostics Group, you will be involved in the following key responsibilities:

  • Assist the project manager with various project tasks.
  • Review and organize project-related documents for smooth project execution.
  • Conduct structural assessments and prepare assessment reports.
  • Conduct research on building codes and industry standards for compliance.
  • Perform field investigations, including non-destructive testing (travel may be required).
  • Analyze and evaluate proposed repair and design options.
  • Design and create detailed repair drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare construction documents, including repair drawings and specifications.
  • Observe and monitor construction and installation of repairs/designs in the field, ensuring quality assurance.

Requirements:

To excel in this role, the following requirements are essential:

  • Profound understanding of structural analysis concepts, with a focus on buildings and bridges.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software such as SAP 2000, ETABS, STAAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is advantageous.
  • Computer programming skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Revit Structure will be beneficial.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Final year students (or higher) pursuing ME/M Tech/MS in Structural Engineering.
  • 0-1 year of experience is required (US project experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated interest in forensic engineering, strengthening, restoration, and rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of American codes, standards, and procedures will be advantageous.
