Introduction:

The Economist Group (TEG) is the research and analysis division that empowers leaders to make confident, strategic decisions by providing high-quality, actionable intelligence. As part of TEG, the Country Analysis division at EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit) seeks a talented Analyst to join its Global Forecasting team. We are searching for individuals with a keen interest in global macroeconomics, a strong aptitude for data analysis and visualization, and excellent communication skills. The Global Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting our coverage of critical global economic and policy themes, contributing to research notes, reports, and client deliverables.

Roles and Responsibilities

Produce High-Quality Forecasts and Analysis:

  • Contribute to research notes, analysis, and presentations that highlight key trends and developments in global economics and policy, providing valuable insights for EIU clients.
  • Assist in shaping EIU’s global outlook by participating in content innovation and enhancing forecasts and content delivery.
  • Offer support in covering global regulation and commodities, as well as the US and Canada, if required.
  • Demonstrate editorial judgment and uphold editorial guidelines, ensuring independence, objectivity, and quality.

Manage External Contributors:

  • Assist in identifying and commissioning external contributors to provide written and data analysis on global economics and policy.
  • Establish a network of sources in academia, business, and government to enrich research efforts.

Contribute to the Team:

  • Actively engage in team discussions on global and regional themes.
  • Provide constructive feedback to colleagues and critically evaluate forecasts.
  • Offer support to team members when needed.

Support Promotion of Views Externally:

  • Engage with clients and prospects through meetings, fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Work closely with EIU sales colleagues to contribute to new business development.
  • Represent EIU by sharing views with media outlets, such as television, radio, or newspapers.

Experience, Skills, and Professional Attributes:

Ideal Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and interest in global macroeconomics and key policy themes.
  • Relevant degree in economics, political science, or a related subject, preferably with a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Expertise in economic forecasting and experience in handling and analyzing large datasets.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Effective multitasking abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
