WASSAN is looking to recruit 2 Young Fellows (Gender) for their work on Odisha Millet Mission (OMM). Fellows will primarily assist in survey and analysis of different OMM components from gender lens and help team in restructuring all our interventions to ensure gender equity. 

About the Organisation

WASSAN- (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network), Hyderabad is a network-based organization focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed areas. WASSAN has contributed substantially to development of watershed policies in various states and at Government of India. WASSAN is also working with various partners in different States as part of RRA Network on rainfed agriculture related agenda.

WASSAN is partners with the Government of Odisha for the Special Programme for Promotion of Millets in Tribal Areas. This is being implemented in 125 blocks of 19 districts of Odisha. The project aims to improve millet production through organic/sustainable agriculture practices, set up processing units, provide market linkages throughs farmer collectives and include millets in state nutrition programmes.

Roles and Responsibilities

We now need someone who can undertake following tasks:

  • Facilitating multi stakeholder consultations for development of contours of survey design to understand and address gender issues.
  • Designing the surveys including questionnaire, sample selection, methodology etc for understanding gender dynamics under OMM 
  • Monitoring and Coordination of completion of surveys. 
  • Capacity building of surveyors on data collection. 
  • Analysis and report writing and publication 
  • Presentation of reports in different forums 

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Experiences in designing the surveys. Good knowledge on research methodology, data analysis, report writing/ Experience in gender related work will be added advantage. 
  • Experience of implementing programs with community especially women groups. 
  • Understanding of agriculture schemes, agriculture related livelihoods and women entrepreneurship will be an added advantage. 
  • Excellent people and communication skills. Proficiency in English and Odia is mandatory.  

Desired Qualification: 

  • Master or bachelor’s with 2 yrs experiences in Anthropology/Women studies/Gender Studies/ Population Studies, Development Studies/Rural Development/Tribal Studies/Social Work/Social Entrepreneurship/Agriculture etc. 
  • Age Limit: 22-40 years 

Compensation:

  • Rs. 40,000 (maximum) per month shall be paid as monthly remuneration excluding TA/DA during field visits.
