About The Caravan

The Caravan is India’s first long-form narrative journalism magazine. It was relaunched in 2010 as a journal of politics and culture dedicated to meticulous reporting and the art of narrative. Since then, The Caravan has established itself as one of the country’s most respected and intellectually agile magazines and set new benchmarks for Indian journalism.

Job Description

Social-media interns are incorporated into the magazine’s social media management and engagement process, learning how The Caravan’s stories are promoted, circulated and curated. They learn to perform various tasks to assist the social-media editor and to promote archival and new content. The candidate should be proficient in Hindi and English, and familiar with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. A journalism background is preferred. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Draft, proof and schedule social media content for The Caravan across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn 
  • Mine The Caravan’s archives for relevant archival pieces based on domestic and international news cycles
  • Manage the delivery of newsletters 
  • Draft responses to subscribers and users commenting on The Caravan’s social media handles.

Requirements

  • Applicants should be familiar with all social media platforms 
  • Applicants should display some proficiency in working on social-media content or news content
  • Applicants should be enthusiastic about The Caravan’s commitment to improving the quality of writing and reporting.

Duration

  • The internship is full-time, from 11 am to 7 pm,  Monday through Saturday.
  • The Caravan requires a  six-month commitment from social-media interns.
