About the Study

This research will examine how startups generate public value and how public and private value generation are interdependent for startups.  The research will follow a mixed methodology design that includes a survey based data collection combined with a comparative case study analysis across startups in India and the UK.

The research is funded by a grant by University College London (UCL) and IIT Delhi. The Research Associate would work with the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the study –  Dr. Debananda Misra  Assistant Professor at the School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi and Dr. Onya Idako, Lecturer, and Dr Yuan HE, Associate Lecturer, at the Institute for Global Prosperity at UCL . 

Qualification:

  • (Required) Should have completed Bachelors (BA or other equivalent) or Masters degree (MA/MTech/ME etc.) in any social science discipline, including in public policy, management/business, development studies, education, innovation, entrepreneurship,  public administration or related areas.
  • (Preferred) PhD and/or UGC NET qualification. Prior experience of qualitative research.

Skills/Experience

  • Read and analyze academic articles.
  • Collect qualitative data from the field through interviews and focus groups
  • Design surveys and collect large scale data through survey administration. 
  • Analyze qualitative data using any tool such as NVivo. Basic analysis of quantitative data.
  • Write analytical reports based on data analysis.

Responsibilities:

The RA would be expected to independently and/or along with the PIs:

  • Carry out literature review
  • Keep track of the spend of the project, as against the approved budget. 
  • Travel for interviewing participants, organize focus groups, and collect data (travel costs incurred will be reimbursed).
  • Analyze qualitative data collected using NVivo or any other analysis tool. Basic analysis of the quantitative data collected. 
  • Miscellaneous operational/logistical support. 

Start date, duration and nature of appointment:

  • The start date is negotiable but we expect it to be around 1 May, 2022.
  • This is a casual appointment with IIT Delhi, and will be initially for three months and renewed for another three/four months.
  • This is a full time position and part-time appointments will not be made. 

Work location and flexibility:

  • The work location is New Delhi, India. This is NOT a remote role.
  • Although flexibility would be provided to the RA to work as per her/his preference, it is expected that the RA would be available for offline interactions/meetings at IIT Delhi at regular intervals.
  • The data collection would also be done offline, unless there are restrictions. 

Pay scale and benefits:

  • 30,000 – 40,000 per month as per qualification and experience.
  • There are no other benefits or allowances offered.
