Maadhyam is an initiative to bridge the gap between people and policy making. Founded in 2016, Maadhyam has worked with 40+ Members of Parliament , 50+ civil society organizations all across the country, Citizen Engagement undertaken on 10+ national legislations.

Important Issues such as Data Protection, Right to Education, Forest Rights, Road Safety, Prison and Police Reforms, Right to Information, Environment concerns, Child Rights, Labour Rights, Internet Shutdowns, Exclusion from entitlements etc were raised through Maadhyam.

About the Opportunity

Maansi Verma, Founder of Maadhyam is looking to hire 2 interns to assist me during the upcoming MonsoonSession of Parliament. Through the initiative, Maadhyam, she follows and creates regular updates on the parliament proceedings to bridge the gap between citizens and Parliament and the interns will be helping her with the same.

Roles and Responsibilities

The work will involve:

  1. Reading and preparing summaries on bills being introduced & discussed in Parliament.
  2. Preparing summaries on discussion on bills & policy issues in Parliament.
  3. Undertaking research on questions, committee reports tabled in Parliament & sharing updates on the same.
  4. Preparing interesting, informative and creative content for social media on updates from Parliament in the form of posts, videos etc.
  5. Doing research and helping write and pitch articles to media platforms on Parliament’s functioning.

Who can apply?

  • Any citizen above 20 years of age
  • Student of any discipline / working professional working in any domain
  • Is available full time (10am – 8pm, Monday to Friday) from mid-July to mid August for the internship
  • Has a keen interest in policy, politics, Parliament (limited prior knowledge is sufficient)
  • Has a knack for research & can sit through long debates, read long document to prepare summaries etc.
  • Is social media savvy (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Can use softwares like Canva, Adobe Creator to create content & can help drive social media engagement on issues related to Parliament.
  • Can read, write, understand English properly. Working knowledge of an additional language including Hindi will be an asset.

Perks and Benefits

  • This is a paid internship and a nominal stipend will be paid.
  • Certificate will be provided to candidates who successfully complete the Internship.

Location

  • The internship will be entirely virtual and remote.
  • Presence of proper and strong internet connection is a requisite.
