District Legal Services Authority, Krishnagiri is inviting applications for the posts of Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel.

The Legal Service Authority is creating legal awareness, legal aid, and settlement of disputes through amicable settlement before Lok Adalat and Mediation are the main aims and functions of the Authority.

Legal awareness programs are taken up for the empowerment of legal knowledge to all the citizens in general to the weaker sections of the society in particular. Various activities are taken up to reach the vulnerable sections of the society such as SC/ST, Women, and Children, Industrial Laborers, etc.

About the Position

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for filling up 1 vacancy of Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel on a contract basis for a period of two years.

Essential Qualifications

  • For Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
    • Must be a citizen of India.
    • Practice in Criminal law for at least 10 years.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent understanding of criminal law.
    • Thorough understanding of ethical duties of a defense counsel.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others with the capability to lead.
    • Must have handled at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Court.
  • For Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
    • Practice in Criminal law for at least 7 years,
    • Excellent understanding of criminal law,
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
    • Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel,
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others,
    • Must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Court,
    • IT Knowledge with proficiency in work.
  • For Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
    • Practice in criminal law from 1 to 3 years.
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Thorough understanding of ethical duties of defense counsel.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others.
    • Excellent writing and research skills.
    • IT knowledge with proficiency in work.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of computer system

Salary

  • Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel: INR 90,000
  • Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel: INR 60,000
  • Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel: INR 30,000

Age Limit

  • Should not be less than 21 years as of the date of Notification.

How to Apply

  • The standard form of application annexed with this notification shall be used for applying to the above-mentioned post.
  • Two passport-size photographs, self-attested photocopies of documents pertaining to Academic Qualification, and Experience Certificate obtained from the court and the Office Bearers of the Bar Association, and a List of cases handled by the Applicant shall be submitted in the prescribed format as per Annexures A and B.
  • The duly filled up application in the prescribed format along with a self-attested copy of certificates and all other supportive documents, and testimonials should be submitted/reached in person (or) by post on or before 5:45 p.m., on 25-07-2022 to the following address:
