About Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propels entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty. Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises almost 275 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries. Job Description

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is looking for someone passionate about Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) and their role in developing businesses models which create a more sustainable and equitable world.

ANDE is recruiting for Program Associate in India.

This role is based in Bangalore, on a 18 months, subject to extension based on project deliverables and timelines

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on ecosystem research and mapping of enterprises, intermediaries and policymakers in the sector across India, with possibility of extension to South and Southeast Asia
  • Co-develop funding proposals in climate & environmental space as required
  • Act as main point of contact by building strong relationships with stakeholders in the climate and environmental action space
  • Work with ANDE senior management and key contacts to develop the regional climate and environmental action strategy by identifying and pursuing new collaboration/partnership opportunities
  • Proactively engageme with leaders and partners on climate action issues
  • Co-develop the climate change engagement and advocacy strategy for ANDE India and South Asia.
  • Provide critical thinking and analysis support to develop ANDE India programming in the sector
  • Help connect multi-stakeholder actors towards collaboration and building knowledge

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate university degree/ Master’s in business, sustainability, social sciences, environmental studies, development studies or similar fields
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the environment and climate action space, preferably in a research role or working with entrepreneurs and intermediaries (such as business incubators, investors, enterprise support organizations etc.)
  • Applied understanding of the small and growing business ecosystem in India, with a willingness to learn
  • Relevant experience with entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and/or impact investing in the context of global development
  • Good understanding of stakeholder landscape in the entrepreneurship ecosystem
  • Good understanding of stakeholder landscape in climate and environmental action
  • Existing network of key actors in the climate and environment sector, preferably across South Asia
  • Past experience in stakeholder and/or client relationship management
  • Strong analytical and research skills, past experience with conducting analysis combining quantitative and qualitative data
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel, in particular, using formulas to aggregate and validate data
  • Relevant experience with conducing analysis combining quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and proactively identify areas for improvement in processes and deliverables
