WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network), Hyderabad is a network-based organization focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed areas. WASSAN has contributed substantially to development of watershed policies in various states and at Government of India. WASSAN is also working with various partners in different States as part of RRA Network on rainfed agriculture related agenda.

Position Overview

WAASAN invites applications for District Project Coordinator – Special Programme For Promotion Of Millets In Tribal Areas Of Odisha, (Odisha Millets Mission).

  • No. of Positions: 4
  • Type of Job: Coordination and Technical Support.
  • Role:Coordinating with ATMA, District Administration, Line Departments, NGOs and FPOs
  • Reporting to: Regional Coordinator
  • Period of Contract: Contract will be for a period of 2 years after initial probation period of 6 months, can be extended as per the project need.
  • Salary: Rs.30000 to Rs.40000 per month based on experience.
  • Location: Multiple Locations In Odisha, Odisha

Job Description:

The District Coordinators is –

  1. Expected to coordinate with NGOs, Community based organisations and Government officials of line departments and district administration in programme districts of Odisha.
  2. Expected to support NGOs on millet production, processing, consumption and marketing.
  3. Ensure training management, monitor regularly and provide handholding support. 
  4. Will be Responsible for daily project management – both organizational and substantive matters – budgeting, planning and general monitoring of the project.
  5. Responsible for facilitating monthly review of the program by District Administration and ATMA.
  6. Responsible for reporting on project progress vis-à-vis indicators in the log-frame to ATMA at District Level and State Secretariat at State Level. 

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science with MBA or Master’s Degree in Agriculture Science or Economics, Rural Development or Social Work with good writing and communication skills in English.
  • Candidate must have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in implementing sustainable or organic agriculture project. Experience of working on millets would be an advantage.
  • Must have experience of working with NGOs and Government officials.
  • Should be self-driven in bringing in new ideas.
  • Candidate must be well versed with Ms Office; knowledge of Gantt charts, indicator preparation, and basic knowledge in budgeting and accounts will be an additional advantage.
  • Candidate will be stationed in the district and has to travel extensively for field visits and will be travelling inside and outside Odisha as per programme requirements.
  • Languages: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Odia is a must. Working knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.
