WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:
Corporate Finance teams are part of ‘Corporate Finance and Strategy CoE (CF&S)’. CF&S work as innovation partners for Bain’s Global strategy practice to enable cutting-edge Intellectual property (IP) / Point of view (PoV) development & commercialization and flawless client delivery. Our strength lies in our people who are experts across different aspects of the strategy topic vis-a-vis business and corporate strategy, CEO and leadership ways of working and corporate finance, backed by solid capabilities around research, analytics and stakeholder management.
Corporate Finance team works with Bain teams across the globe with solutions to corporate finance and capital markets related aspects with a wide array of highly customizable offerings and tailored analyses to address key CXO concerns and equip the C-Suite with the right tools to shape their agenda on long-term shareholder value creation. The team conducts financial diagnostics for client companies, codifies Bain’s intellectual property and contributes to new intellectual property. We work with case teams across geographies and industries; however, they focus almost exclusively on Corporate Finance related projects. For more details, click here
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Corporate Finance (CF) Associates play a team member role on BCN cases, at times leading simple cases independently and at times driving the analysis on more complicated cases with significant direction from a Project Leader/ Manager/ Senior Manager
- CF Associates may manage 1-3 Analysts and take responsibility for sharing appropriate information across work streams. Associates provide feedback and coach Analysts on task execution and role. The expectation is to eventually provide significant direction and support to resolve complex issues and effectively manage client and team meetings.
- CF Associates are responsible for executing and at times driving the team’s overall answer, final materials, client communication, work planning, and team management on capital markets/corporate finance related projects
- CF Associates are expected to produce high quality, client-ready research and analysis, understanding implications and generating strong business insights
- Ability to think through the impact of any change in one financial metric across financial statements, and impact to valuation. Ability to make sense of financial data, such as reasons for high or low growth, margins, returns, multiples, leverage and accompanying competitive dynamics
- Communicate data, knowledge and insight to the entire team. Generate and screen realistic solutions based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions
- Effectively structure communication of insights from own work stream. Deliver clear and professional presentations to the team/team leaders/managers
- Consistently seek and provide meaningful and actionable feedback in all interactions; recognize different skills and development needs in oneself and work towards it
- Assist on Office Management roles (e.g. recruiting, marketing, training, etc.)
ABOUT YOU:
- Candidates should be graduates/post graduates with specialization in finance with strong academic records
- 12-48 months of relevant experience in investment banking, equity research or consulting with corporate finance exposure
- Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis and underlying valuation principals, ability to connect financial performance to valuations with a flair for numbers and fair knowledge of equity markets to generate compelling insights and equity story with a focus on ‘so-what’
- Proficient professional with sound business logic, thought leadership and ability to structure approaches to answer complex business questions
- Cross-link different business models and multiple industries key dynamics, using key drivers/KPIs behind operational and financial performance
- Candidates should possess excellent analytical, communication, and team player skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Good to have first level team management responsibility involving allocating and reviewing work to a small team of analysts and conducting performance discussions, writing reviews for appraisal
- Preference for candidates with CA / CFA
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are required
- Exposure to Tableau/Alteryx is an added advantage
