About the Organisations

Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Twelve years into our journey we are a movement of 3800 Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. These Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put 32,000 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have 970 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India.

Position Summary

The Intern works with the Alumni Impact team to study the Alumni landscape of the Bengaluru region. The work will primarily involve updating the database, conducting interviews with Alumni and other experts in education, collecting Alumni stories for the newsletter and social media. The intern will work across multiple projects including Research & Documentation, Alumni Engagement & Outreach and Social Media Advocacy. The duration of the internship will be a period of 2 months. 

Team Overview

Bengaluru with its 3352 students across 100 classrooms in 34 schools, isa relatively newer city that Teach For India has made a foray in. Going into phase 4 of TFI and 7th year of City Operations, Bengaluru team would allow you to play a part in shaping Teach For India’s future in the city as we expand our impact to children within and beyond our classrooms. Apart from a high Alumni to Fellow ratio (106 Fellows to 400+ Alumni), the rich ecosystem is a great opportunity for collaboration and learning. The City team drives partnerships with school authorities who become an integral branch of Teach For India as stakeholders. The Alumni team creates and leverages a connected network of partner alumni to build and sustain the movement in the city. It forms the foundation of growth and success of the Fellows and helps them metamorphose into future leaders of the country.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in updating  the Alumni Database
  • Support in conducting the Alumni landscape study 
  • Assist with social media advocacy and designing the newsletter by collating Alumni stories in the region
  • Assist in managing the social media page of TFI Bengaluru towards creating a strong regional brand
  • Perform analysis of various data and draw meaningful insights
  • Assist in curating and operationalizing Alumni engagement spaces

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Proficiency in Google applications
  • Proficiency in Design software

Competencies and Abilities

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time across different projects 
  • Ability to work with, and invest, multiple stakeholders towards common outcomes
