Qualification: 

  • Education: Master’s in Rural Development Management or Master’s in Social Work (with emphasis on economic empowerment).
  • Experience: 2 – 4 years, preferably in development sector, with a social purpose organization or rural livelihoods initiative at central or state level.

Job Description:

Rural communities have been the backbone of India’s economy for several decades.  With 76.76 percent rural population in Chhattisgarh, there is an urgent need for villages and small towns to become increasingly resilient and lay the foundation for a rapid growth oriented and more inclusive economy. Microenterprises play a major role in job creation, employing more than 10 crores of the nation’s workforce. Additionally, out of the total 5.4 crores microenterprises, about 20% are led by women.

Enhanced levels of local entrepreneurship, through individually owned businesses and collectives plays a crucial role in establishing “distributed epicentres of local value creation” and environmentally sound local economies. Development Alternatives (DA) Group’s social innovation methodology and tools are reimagining the current approach to building entrepreneurship ecosystems and accelerating job creation especially for those who have been left behind in the mainstream economy.

With this background, DA is enhancing its commitment to green and inclusive development in the state of Chhattisgarh. The broad objectives of the initiative are:

  • Capacity Enhancement: Establishment of an ‘Impact Acceleration Facility’, which shall provide ongoing information and support services to project teams, key stakeholders and enterprises.
  • Pool of Technology and Business Packages: Creation of new business packages and service delivery models in response to emerging opportunities.
  • Investment in Enterprises: Catalyse capital investment in enterprises by leveraging funds from sources such as development banks, investors, peer to peer lending platforms, grants etc.
  • Cross-learning: Foster cross learning between enterprises and similar organizations, and create a pool of commercially viable innovations.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional for the role of Deputy Manager under which specific responsibilities of the candidate will include the following:

  • Coordination of required capacity building support to various stakeholders through intensive engagement with government departments.
  • Liaison with domain experts for provision of specialized support services to micro enterprises and collectives.
  • Maintenance of a virtual platform access to technical experts, technology providers and other service providers.
  • Programme documentation and reporting.

  • Ability to be located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh for at least 20 days a month.
