Development Alternatives is looking for a Deputy Manager/Manager (Field Research) who can contribute to quantitative and qualitative research studies, prepare data frames, write reports and evaluate impact among other things.

Qualification:

  • Postgraduate in Development Studies/ Economics/ Public Policy/ Any other related discipline. 
  • Sound Knowledge about Inclusive Development, Community based Natural Resource Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of which at least 2 years of experience should be in empirical research/ project impact evaluation using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Good understanding of inclusive development, community based natural resource management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and sustainable development issues are required. 
  • Involvement in the designing, implementation and/ or evaluation of development/ environmental/ climate change adaptation projects in the context of agricultural and allied sector and water resources will be preferred. 

Job Description:

  • Contributing to research studies (quantitative and qualitative), preparation of data frame, leading data collection through structured and non- structured questionnaires aand FGDs, project monitoring and impact evaluation, report writing and dissemination of study outcomes for projects on community based natural resource management, nature based solutions in agricultural and allied sector, rural livelihoods, climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • Working closely and networking with local/ national/ international stakeholders at different levels
  • Business development to build Inclusive Development, Community based Natural Resource Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation project portfolio

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience of liaising with  government Institutions ( local, state and national level, NGOs, FPOs, financial institutions) would be preferred. 
  • A national perspective of development work and ability to network
  • Skills in planning and designing research initiatives, in-depth understanding of policy environment
  • Proposal development and project management
  • Ability for independent thinking and taking initiatives/ lead
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Professional attitude and ability to function effectively as a team member

Essential attributes: 

  • Experience of working in development sector (preferably agriculture and allied sector and water) towards addressing rural livelihood/ natural resource management/ climate change issues
  • Experience in networking with various stakeholders at local, state, and national level
  • Experience in conducting literature review, secondary and primary data collection/ analysis, documentation, technical report writing and presentation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi
  • Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, IT-know-how (MS-Office, Excel or other database programs).
  • Willingness to travel
