About the Opportunity

The Center of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG), a New Delhi-based think tank, invites applications for its inaugural edition of the CPRG Indian Knowledge System Research Grant. The grant aims to support graduate students and early career researchers working on pertinent themes in Humanities and Social Sciences related to Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).We invite applications from postgraduate and doctoral students as well as postdoctoral researchers. The fellowship is open to students of all nationalities from Indian and foreign universities.

Eligibility

  • Students or researchers should be affiliated with recognized universities at postgraduate level or above and must have good academic standing.
  • Preference would be given to projects with the viability of publication. 
  • Preference would be given to those who have secured primary grants from elsewhere and want to use the CPRG-IKS grant to supplement them. 
  • For doctoral students, preference would be given to those at advanced stages of their degree.
  • For master’s students, preference would be given to those who can demonstrate potential for further academic research.

Grant Amount

  • Funds are available for fieldwork, archival research, acquisition of primary sources (including reprography of manuscripts), research assistance, or other academic activities.
  • For Indian university students and researchers, grants can range from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.
  • For foreign university students, grants can range from $300 to $1500. All amounts would be disbursed to an Indian bank account.

How to Apply

  • Please submit applications through the online form available here. Applications sent through email will not be accepted. 
  • The complete application package would consist of research proposal, CV, writing sample, and recommendation letter. Quotation and award letters should be included where necessary.
  • Applications should be made by March 31, 2022. However, we are willing to send acceptances on a rolling basis.

Application Guidelines

  • The research proposal should be 2-3 pages (Font size 12 pt.) and include the objective of the research, methodology, and its contribution to IKS. It should also include justification for resources.
  • CV should be a maximum of two pages. If there are multiple researchers, please include CVs of all of them. 
  • One original and a single-authored writing sample, published or unpublished, of up to 20 pages is required. 
  • One academic recommendation letter should be sent to [email protected][email protected] with the subject “Recommendation letter —Full Name of Applicant”. The referees can send the letters up to one week after the application deadline. 
  • If primary grants are secured from other sources, a letter of the award or email confirmation from an official source should be included. 
  • For acquiring physical resources such as manuscripts, a quotation shall be included.
