About SEWA Bharat

Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.


The ‘Community Engagement Associate’ will be involved closely with the SEWA Bharat Communications Team and Programme Coordinators in planning and executing the creation, curation and publishing of original, high-quality content in the form of Information, Education and Communication materials (IEC). They will work closely with the Programme Coordinator to execute on-ground outreach strategies for increasing SEWA Bharat’s brand awareness among the communities the organization works in.

Contract Details:

  • Contract type: Full-time consultant 
  • Base Location: Delhi

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years prior experience in communications at a think tank/government organization/civil society organization/other related companies
  • Ability to cater to programme and overall communications needs of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication (in English and Hindi)
  • Excellent communication skills especially in conducting workshops at a grassroots level
  • A knack for grassroots storytelling
  • Fluency in Hindi is required, fluency in any other regional language will be an added advantage
  • Experience in creating audio-visual content (shooting, video editing, building narratives etc.)
  • Experience in operating design software like Canva, InDesign, Illustrator etc.


  • 45-50 K per month
