The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) is a non-profit international research institute dedicated to food, nutrition and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia, which is home to more than 300 million undernourished people. About the Opportunity

We are seeking dynamic, innovative and self-motivated professional with a specialization Communications. She/he will be responsible for solid communication, reach, and visibility of South Asia Atlas in the region. She/He will build and nurture relationships with donors, policymakers, the scientific community, the media, and other stakeholders. The position will be based in Delhi.

Roles and Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this position will be: 

  • Write, design, edit, and oversee the production of publications, including newsletter content, scientific reports, etc.
  • Provide communication and media support to workshops/meetings.
  • Generate compelling impact stories across the region to support the reach, impact, and scalability of the atlas in South Asia.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Assist in day-to-day project management activities like coordinating with the project team, internal resources, and partners for the flawless execution of the project, organizing meetings, making travel arrangements, and executing contracts with vendors.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes: 

  • Master’s Degree in Journalism or Communications or English, or related discipline (a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience will also be considered).
  • At least two years of experience in science communication, public relations, and/or media campaigns. 
  • Excellent internal communication skills, including writing and copy-editing skills in English for diverse audiences and formats.
  • Ability to express technical concepts in clear and straightforward language for diverse audiences, including the public.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment. 
  • Experience in Climate change Communications is a plus.
  • Possess competencies like communication, team-work, creative thinking and client orientation.

Other Information

  • The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
