Responsibilities of the Intern:

  • Understand the core business of AXP and the levers behind various decisions 
  • Understand regulatory reporting instructions and changes proposed by the regulators
  • Act to implement the changes and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Understand the card economics and how loyalty programs drive those economics
  • Contribute to critical business initiatives and other initiatives identified by leadership to transform current processes
  • Understand the specific business problem at hand and analyze relevant data to derive business insights and translate it into implementable solutions
  • Develop KPIs and reporting to ensure effective governance and create transparency with stakeholders on key metrics, potential issues and developing risks
  • Support strategic analysis on business unit margins, profitability enhancements etc
  • Drive transformational agenda including developing driver-based planning models
  • Analyze & develop useful, actionable insights on key performance metrics, revenue & expenses


  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data, spot trends and generate meaningful insights
  • willingness to explore analytics or reporting tools to provide solutions to problem at hand
  •  synthesize data into an easy-to-understand story and articulate key messages across multiple audiences
  •  positive, can-do attitude, adapt to change, and highly motivated self-starter
  •  act and lead with courage, build relationships, make decisions quickly & influence change
  • Good Accounting Knowledge and understanding of financial statements is desirable
  • Self-starter, ability to drive insights from data, provide action steps and drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Work knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with knowledge of Macros/VBA a plus
  • Work knowledge of data analytics tools like SQL, Python, yellowbrick and data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI will be an advantage
  • Good understanding of Capital markets, banking products and Financial Management
  • An understanding of financial statements is desirable
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time master’s degree program
