Introduction:
Jan Sahas Foundation is a grassroots organization with a remarkable mission to eliminate sexual violence and forced labor, with a special focus on marginalized social groups. Established in 2000, our journey began as a community-based initiative dedicated to ending manual scavenging. Today, we operate intensively across 90+ districts in 11 states across northern India, impacting lives through a dedicated team of ~16,000 full-time staff and ~5,000 village-based volunteers.
Despite our growth, we remain firmly rooted as a grassroots organization, with 90% of our team members belonging to the communities and groups we serve. This includes survivors of sexual violence and forced labor, single women, Dalit, and tribal communities. At Jan Sahas, empowering those we serve to lead the fight against exclusion is at the core of our mission.
