Job Summary:

As a Business Development Manager at Standard Chartered Bank, your primary focus will be on driving business growth and enhancing customer relationships in the Retail Banking sector. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

Responsibilities:

Business:

  • Achieve sales targets for Business Loans.
  • Implement customer-focused, needs-based selling strategies.
  • Acquire new SME customer relationships and meet their requirements regarding Business Loans and other financial products.
  • Cross-sell a range of products to deepen customer relationships.

Processes:

  • Ensure error-free customer applications and documentation.
  • Responsibly and responsively engage in selling activities.
  • Apply effective sales and marketing skills.
  • Strive for zero customer complaints.

Governance:

  • Conduct thorough client due diligence.
  • Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for fraud and mis-selling.
  • Continuously update your knowledge through training and adhere to all policies, guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Report any suspicious activities to the Unit Money Laundering Prevention Officer and your line manager.

Regulatory & Business Conduct:

  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, and business conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree required; MBA would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 1 year of sales experience in the Retail Banking Industry, with a preference for Home Loans, Wealth, and Savings Accounts.
  • Preferably hold certifications such as AMFI, IRDA, or other relevant qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of the local market and customer segments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster enthusiasm and teamwork.

Role-Specific Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong communication skills.
