About the Organisation

Guardians of Dreams is a startup non-profit organisation that works with children in need of care and protection who grow up in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) like orphanages, open shelters, observation homes, adoption centres etc. There are 2 crore children classified as orphans in the country, out of which approx. 5000 children are living in CCIs per urban district. The organisation has built a network of 250+ CCIs across Bengaluru, Chennai and Ernakulam districts and has reached out to over 6500 children through its current programs.

About The Role:

The Capacity Accelerator Program (CAP) aims to transform care practices in Child Care Institutions, by addressing the severe limitations in funding, access to expertise and contextualized support that they face. As part of the design for this program, we are building a repository of key research and documentation in the space.

The internship will be part-time, remote and will have a minimum duration of 1 month. We are excited to work with you if you have a keen interest in institutional childcare, issues facing vulnerable children in India, research and design challenges and are able to commit 3 hours a day towards the design of CAP.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Read, collate and summarize key points from existing research and documentation on childcare, institutional care and associated domains such as children’s nutrition, physical health, mental health, care quality in institutions, fundraising ecosystem in CCIs. 
  • Carry out information cleanup and organization towards enabling quick access to important data
  • Prepare relevant communications materials and reports for presenting key insights from the literature review

Additional Activities (Optional)

  • Participate in team design discussions on next steps and takeaways from the research
  • Implement improvements in the information capture and insight generation process

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled in a second university degree program (a master’s degree)
  • Strong analytical skills and a fast and thorough reader
  • An eye for detail and an interest in design
  • Knowledge of G-Suite, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Excellent written & good verbal communication
  • Ability to manage workload with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
