About the Organisation
Agatsu is a section 8 – Not for profit company incorporated in March 2021. We fall under the jurisdiction of the Registrar of Companies. We will work in the area of Mental Health – in the broadest sense of the word.Agatsu means ‘Self-Victory’. We believe self-victory is when one is most content with their life and themselves. The path to self-victory, according to us, is when one is in-tune with themselves, when the choices one makes in one’s life are in-tune with their individual beliefs: this is what it means to find one’s equilibrium. To that effect, Agatsu is a life-integration initiative to find equilibrium within ourselves and with the world around us. Everything in life is about balance and each person’s balance looks different. It is the pull and push, the taking control and letting go of – differently for each individual based on the specific variables in their life and situation. It is a journey: this attempt to find balance and equilibrium. A journey to a destination we may never reach, a journey that doesn’t really have an end until we die, but we can improve and keep working on ourselves.
Why? For a better day to day life, for a better here and now (the relatively near future which will inevitably lead to the more distant future). Whatever better means for each person individually. This journey is also a choice (it requires dedication and self-work from the individual). At Agatsu, we would like to expose those interested to our philosophy and make accessible the knowledge and skills we have acquired to aid their process of finding their own individual balance.
Agatsu believes there are three pillars to get closer to one’s own balance. Self-awareness, Communication and Resilience.A psychologist at Agatsu:Agatsu is looking for a full-time psychologist. We believe that different schools of psychology have value and use. We do not prescribe to any one single school of psychology. To that effect, it is important for the psychologist to share in our belief and want to cross-skill themselves with various schools of thought so as to best cater to the needs of people. Put simply, there is a place and time for medication, behavioural therapy, CBT, REBT, Dynamic Systems, Existential and art based therapy. You need to be open to drawing from the benefits of various schools; learn and understand the various schools and apply the information and skills as and when required. Obviously this will take time and training, but it is important that you share our belief.
