About the Internship

The objective of the Scheme is to assign short term tasks/projects/studies useful and relevant to NABARD, to talented students pursuing post-graduate degree (completing/completed first year) in Agriculture and allied disciplines (Veterinary, Fisheries, etc.), Agri-business, Economics, Social Sciences and Management from Institutes/ Universities of repute or students pursuing 5 year integrated courses completing/ completed 4th year of their course.

Indian students studying abroad are also eligible for SIS 2024-25. The scheme is expected to provide valuable feedback with a fresh perspective through studies/projects undertaken by the students on themes of interest to NABARD.

No. of Seats

Total number of seats for NABARD SIS 2024-25 is 40 (35 seats for Regional Offices/TEs and 05 seats for Head Office). Each RO/TE will be allocated only 01 seat under SIS 2024-25. Detailed break up of seats is given in Annexure I.

Broad Themes

The broad objective of SIS 2024-25 will be to examine topics of contemporary relevance as well as to assess/ gauge the impact of various NABARD interventions at the ground level. The SIS 2024-25 scheme will also serve as an exercise for documentation of success stories of NABARD’s projects/ programmes/ schemes/ activities at the field level.

To ensure that we have a decent number of reports on a particular topic so that we can draw reasonable insights, all interns selected under SIS 2024-25 will be required to study one of the following four NABARD interventions only:

  • KCC coverage/issues & strategy to improve lending through KCC
  • Business diversification of PACS for improving their profitability
  • Smart Agriculture – IOT and Drone Devices for precision farming: Implementation, acceptability and challenges
  • In addition to the above three themes, ROs/TEs may assign a state specific theme to the interns.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing post-graduate degree (having completed first year) in Agriculture and allied disciplines (Veterinary, Fisheries, etc.), Agribusiness, Economics, Social Sciences and Management from Institutes/ Universities of repute or students pursuing 5 years integrated courses completing/completed 4th year of their course. Indian students studying abroad are eligible for SIS 2024-25.
  • Students applying for internship in a particular State must be either pursuing their degree from that State or they must belong to that State (ordinarily resident of the State).
  • However, seats in Head Office, Mumbai are open to applications from students across the country.

Selection Process

  • The applicants for scheme will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of weighted score system (based on marks in 10th, 12th and Graduation).
  • The final selection of the students for the internship scheme will be solely on the basis of the interview performance.

Duration

The duration of the internship will be a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum period of 12 weeks. The interns are required to undertake and complete the internship between 01 May 2024 to 30 August 2024.

Important dates

  • Opening of link for registration and submission of applications: April 05, 2024
  • Closing date for submission of applications: April 21, 2024
  • Shortlisting of candidates: April 23, 2024
  • Interviews and Declaration of Results (to be completed tentatively by): April 30, 2024

Stipend

  • Stipend/ month {Minimum 8 weeks (2 Months) to maximum 12 Weeks (3 months}: Rs. 18000 per month
  • Field visit allowance (including all expenditure)-maximum for 30 days. For calculation of allowance time period to be calculated based on travel plan to be approved by Mentor.: Rs. 2000 per day (For 8 NER States) Rs. 1500 per day (Excluding 8 NER States)
  • Travel allowance for field visits from HQ to Field and back to HQ on reimbursement basis subject to submission of valid tickets /other proofs (like petrol/taxi receipts): Rs. 6000 per head (maximum)
  • Miscellaneous expenses on declaration basis: Rs. 2000 per head.
