NEGFIRE is a national NGO; promoting quality Pre-primary & Primary education for marginalized Adivasi and Dalit communities currently working across 6 states in India. Our program focus is to ensure quality education among children of these marginalized communities through – mother tongue based multi-lingual (MTB-MLE) approach, inclusive practices, active participation of communities, teachers (govt.) trainings etc., which facilitates an in increase in children’s learning outcomes within the government school system.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Junior Academic Specialist is responsible for developing teaching and learning resources / instruction materials, curriculum that will support Govt. Teachers to practice new ways of working with children from the marginalized communities that enhances their learning levels.
  • This includes facilitating gamut of processes for content development and validation in alignment with state curriculum, Develop MTB-MLE curriculum of class 1 to 5 aligning with SERT and NCRT, module development for teacher’s trainings and contextual resources.
  • S/he will also facilitate training of the government teachers, implementing team of NEG-FIRE, to classroom transactions for joyful learning in Government schools.  

Qualifications, Experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Education or Master’s Degree in Social sciences with minimum 3 years of experience working on primary education issues.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of working in the development sector, out of which at least 5 years prior experience of working with tribal communities in MP, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
  • Must be sensitive to the issues of the tribal & dalit communities and their cultures, and have compassionate to work on their development issues with strong desire to impact their lives.
  • Should be pro-active and demonstrate ownership towards academic goals of the organization.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in developing Mother Tongue based Multi-lingual Education pedagogies, curriculum development, module for teacher training, and Teaching Learning Material
  • Proven experience of Teacher Training Facilitation skills.
  • Experience of working with Government education departments, government school teachers, and officials at district and block level will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to effectively deliver content that meets the needs, and levels of participants, and that can be effectively transferred from the trainings to the classroom in the school.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, and able to solve problems independently.
  • Highly meticulous about detail and well organised, and prioritise a demanding workload and tight deadlines.
  • Must be well-versed with Hindi and English languages. Familiarity with tribal dialects spoken in MP, Chhattisgarh and Odisha would be an added advantage.

  • Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications, relevant domain experience, last salary drawn, etc. We provide benefits such as PF, Gratuity, Group Medical and Accidental Insurance.
