Born in the aftermath of the dark days of ‘Indian Emergency’, Delhi Forum represents the voice of the social action groups and autonomous peoples’ organizations and movements in the National Capital city – Delhi, since 1978. The movements and people’s groups define the support that they need from DF ranging from campaigns, lobbying, logistics, networking, advocacy, media publicity, legal aid, capacity building, etc. DF also works as an unassuming support structure that conducts studies & action research to assist different people’s organizations and communities.

About the Opportunity

Delhi Forum has been supporting movements around the country since decades. We have been critical against the corporate loot of Jal Jangal Zameen and violation of people’s rights. Another, one of the core work that we have been supporting is coastal and marine rights. Several states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, and other states situated in the coastal areas going are through a critical time due to pro-corporate policies introduced by the government. At this juncture, it is of immense importance to work with the community/fraternity whose life, dignity is at stake.

We have started a program “Youth for the Coast” in the year 2020 which intends to work with the youth on the issues of coastal and marine rights, further who can be leaders of tomorrow to fight the battle against the undemocratic giants. For the said purpose we looking for the youth candidates who have-

  • Understanding of the ocean and coast as an ecological system that supports the livelihoods of people engaged in the small-scale fisheries sector.
  • Knowledge around politics of blue economy, coastal rights, politics of welfare policies.
  • Understanding of grassroots movements.
  • Organizing workshops and developing training modules.
  • Coordinate with the youth, unions, and other related organizations.
  • Coordinate activities related to Delhi Solidarity Group & liaison with media.
  • Legal knowledge will be an asset

Eligibility

Requirements from the applicant are listed below:

  • Young, enthusiastic, willing to learn, and committed to progressive politics and ideas
  • Should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferred in Social Sciences/Human Rights/Law, political science, social work, or other related fields, with a minimum of 1 – 2 years of work experience (freshers with the same knowledge and educational qualification might also apply).
  • Knowledge to conduct research, action research, good English and Hindi writing skill will be given priority.
  • Must possess good language proficiency (English and Hindi) and communication skills. Knowledge of Telugu, Malayalam, Konkani, Bengali, Marathi will be an advantage.
  • Must be willing to travel to different regions and work flexible hours.
  • The person should be based in Delhi or willing to relocate.
  • Open to learning and un-learn, having a strong rights-based approach, sensitive towards caste, gender, physical appearances, and LGBTQIA+. 

Remuneration

  • The appointment will be for a period of 7 months, to be extended based on the project approval.
  • The remuneration for the said position is between 30,000/- to 36000/-(subject to TDS deductions) depending on the eligibility of the candidate.
  • Additionally, Communication and travel expenses will be provided.
