About the Project:

IMPRESS aims at reducing the treatment gap of depression in Goa, India by improving the access to depression care. The project aims at improving the reach of the depression care services and improve the health outcomes of the patients accessing the services in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. We aim to demonstrate how community based interventions can enhance access to, and improve the outcomes of, the Healthy Activity Program (HAP), a manualised psychological treatment based on behavioural activation, in an efficient and sustainable manner.

About the Job Position:

  • Job Title: Field Researcher

  • Project: IMPlementation of evidence based facility and community interventions to reduce the treatment gap for depRESSion (IMPRESS) 
  • Duration: One year (may be extended based on performance and funding)

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Networking and data collection (in-depth interviews, focus groups) with healthcare workers and community workers. 
  • Ensure that data collection and management processes are completed in an efficient manner. 
  • Assist in designing the research tools and methodology. 
  • Ensure accurate and regular reporting of research data to the data team. 
  • Code qualitative interview summary sheets 
  • Writing up of papers and reports. 
  • Assisting in research/intervention delivery and monitoring. 
  • Develop resource material for the intervention programs. 
  • Attending all relevant meetings with the project team. 
  • Submission of weekly/monthly inputs. 
  • Contribute to other ongoing research at the Addictions Research Group. 
  • Reporting to the Research Coordinator. 
  • Participate in other Sangath activities. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Cleared Higher Secondary schooling or Graduation (in any subject). 
  • Excellent language skills (Konkani and English) (written and verbal). 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Good computing skills (MS office) 
  • Having an ‘enquiring mind’ so that you can contribute to the development of the project. 
  • Familiarity with basic research data collection 

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience of working in government healthcare systems including primary health care centres and community health care centres. 
  • Previous research experience. 
  • Experience of working in the local communities of Goa. 
  • Experience of working with qualitative software. 

Remuneration

  • Salary range: Rs 17,000- 27,000/ month.
  • The initial appointment will be made for three months’ probation from the date of joining, with renewal up to one year based on a performance review.
