United Way Mumbai is a registered non-profit organization working in urban and rural communities across India to identify and implement the most impactful solutions to community problems. We are part of the 130+ year old United Way movement spread across 40 countries. Across the world, United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.

Based on a deep understanding of the Indian development sector, United Way Mumbai has distilled six priority areas and created solutions that go beyond short-term charity. These six areas of focus encompass the most pressing social problems of our communities and the solutions are designed to address their root causes. The six areas of focus are Education, Health, Income, Environment, Public Safety and Social Inclusion.

  • Position: Assistant Manager – Campaigns – NGO Relations

Job Overview

The position is a part of the team responsible for ideating, managing and executing various campaigns and event partnership at United Way Mumbai. The predominant campaign is the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). TMM is India’s biggest philanthropic sporting event, annually raising more than INR 46 crores for nearly 300 NGOs with numerous corporate partners and individuals supporting them.
As the official philanthropy partner of the TMM we serve as the philanthropic exchange connecting donors to NGOs by creating and implementing an organized and structured charity platform. UWM also runs a Monthly Giving platform, allowing users to donate funds to various causes seamlessly every month using a variety of digital payment options.In your role as an Assistant Manager in the campaigns team, you will be developing relationships with new and existing NGOs enabling them to raise funds by partnering with UWM. You will be required to build rapport with them, create a constant engagement and help them deepen their philanthropic involvement.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth, end to end knowledge of the Philanthropy Structure of the TMM and constantly strive to improve it
  • Understand how, when and why crowdfunding works and develop strategies around the art and science of crowdfunding and then further share the information with NGOs
  • Create and execute a communication plan to onboard past NGOs at the TMM and for Monthly Giving
  • Manage the end to end individual fund cycle – raising, receiving, accounting, reconciling, disbursing and reporting 
  • Develop and maintain an excellent business relationship with the partnered NGO’s staff from handholding and providing constant motivation to problem-solving any issues that they may face in their campaign.
  • Contribute to all activities of the campaigns team including working on new event collaborations 
  • Research, recommend and incorporate best practices to improve team efficiency 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus on humanities, marketing, communication or business administration preferre
  • Minimum 4 years of overall experience in the nonprofit sector in India is required. 
  • Your interest in others and your desire to make a connection must be authentic 
  • Have good listening skills and are of an empathetic nature. Your ability to connect with people and gain trust quickly is essential
  • You need to be self-motivated and goal-oriented. Taking initiative and ability to think out of the box is a required skill for the job
  • Great command of MS Office and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Being of curious mind is a bonus to the position

Remuneration:

  • Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the salary range is ₹ 6.6 to ₹ 7.2 L p.a
