About the Opportunity:
- Position: Junior Fellow/Associate Fellow/Fellow – Maritime Studies
- Salary: As per industry standards
- Reports To: Head of Maritime Policy Initiative, ORF New Delhi
- Expertise: maritime security, maritime trade, marine environment, maritime connectivity, Blue Economy, marine conservation and sustainable development; laws of the sea, maritime infrastructure, and climate change impacts on the maritime domain.
Eligibility Criteria:
- In-depth knowledge of maritime affairs (geopolitics, security, economics, connectivity, infrastructure, Blue Economy, maritime law)
- Post-graduate or equivalent degree in international relations/defence and strategic studies (with experience in research and writing on maritime issues)
- 3-10 years of work experience
- Good publication record spanning analytical articles, research outputs, and project reports
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong relationship skills and team ethic

- Indian security policies in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific.
- The China challenge in the Indo-Pacific region
- Coastal security architecture and nontraditional security challenges
- Maritime domain awareness, Gray Zone operations
- Role of Quad, ASEAN, and AUKUS in Indo-Pacific security
- India as a security provider in the Indian Ocean
- South China Sea security and the Taiwan issue
- Growing importance of East Asia and the Pacific islands for India
- Maritime trade, connectivity, infrastructure development and shipbuilding
- Blue Economy, biodiversity and conservation, climate change impacts on the maritime domain
- Advancements in naval technologies (drones, AI, precision weaponry, network-centric warfare)
