About the Organisation:

Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation committed to improving health across the life span by empowering existing community resources to provide appropriate physical, psychological and social therapies. Its primary focus areas include child development, adolescent health, adult health and chronic diseases.

About the Project:

The project aims to supporting peer facilitators (young people living in the communities they serve) to provide effective treatments that could benefit a large number of adolescents with depression and anxiety. We will co-adapt and test the feasibility and acceptability of a psychological treatment for adolescents with depression and anxiety delivered by peers in rural eastern India and Goa. To achieve the goals of the study we will take a mixed methods approach and this will include eliciting explanatory models of depression and anxiety in the target group, identifying and adapting an evidence based psychological treatment to meet contextual requirements, identifying and validating an appropriate tool for screening, developing referral pathways, and testing the acceptability and feasibility of our package of care made up of screening, intervention, and referral.
