About the Organisation
Eklavya is a non-profit, non-government organisation that develops and field tests innovative educational programmes and trains resource people to implement these programmes. It functions through a network of education resource centres located in Madhya Pradesh.
For over two decades, Eklavya has sought to relate the content and pedagogy of education – both formal and non-formal – to social change and the all-round development of the learner.
About the Internship
- Project name: School Strengthening Initiative (SSI)
- Project field area: Shahpur, District Betul, MP
- Position: Intern
- Duration of the internship: 4-6months
- Stipend: Rs 8,000 to 10,000 per month plus stay and food.

Areas we work in:
- School Strengthening Initiatives in Shahpur works on the principle of activity based learning following pedagogies and processes that are appropriate for primary school children. We develop materials and activities for teaching concepts around language, mathematics and EVS. With the closure of schools due to the pandemic, Eklavya has been working with children in mohallas/ communities with the support of resource students, local volunteers, community and teachers. Small groups of students of primary grade are guided/ facilitated by our resource students. The SSI team supports the resource students in capacity building and planning of sessions.
- The project is also stepping towards digital literacy with 5th to 8th class students. Towards this, we have conducted a pilot with a small batch of students. The initiative would now be expanded to reach many more students.
Area expected to work in/with:
- Language (Hindi and English), Mathematics and EVS in Mohalla Gatividhi Kendras/student engagement centers; and
- Planning sessions for Language, mathematics and EVS for the centers
- Capacity building/ workshops with the resource students and SSI team
- Conducting sessions in the centers
- Regular center visits
- Facilitating learning in digital platform for 5, 6, 7 and 8th class students
- Report writing/ documentation of the work being done
- Provide support to any other organizational work, as and when required
Requirements for the intern:
- A graduate pursuing B.EL.Ed or completed B.El.Ed; specialized in Language/EVS/ Mathematics is much appreciable.
- Experience and or in-depth knowledge in different pedagogical techniques is much needed.
- Knowledge and experience of pros and cons of digital based learning
