Eligibility Criteria of the Gates Scholarship 2023 in the USA:
- The applicant must be a high school senior.
- Must be from one of these ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American.
- The applicant must be a US citizen, national or permanent resident.
- The applicant must be Pell-eligible.
- Must not be receiving any other grant or family support.
- The applicant’s academic performance must be outstanding i.e. GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
- The applicant must be planning to enroll in a four-year degree program in the USA.
How to apply for the Gates Scholarship 2023?
- The applicant has to create an MYTGS profile on www.gatesscholarship.org in order to apply.
- Phase II: 2000 semi-finalists will be called to further process the application. The Gates Scholarship application will include a questionnaire, essays, updated transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Phase II of the scholarship must be completed by January.
- March: 600 candidates will be selected for the final phase. In the final phase, the candidates will be interviewed in person or on a video call.
- April: The 300 finalists will be announced and asked for documentation clearance for the award.
